How it works
- FastPing sends a Steam A2S_INFO query over UDP to the query port.
- The reply contains the server name, players, maximum players and version.
- Two unanswered checks in a row open an incident and alert you.

Players online and maximum, charted over 24 hours, with an optional low-player warning.

An optional alert when the server version changes after an update.

Set it up
Start the server with -public 1: Valheim only answers queries in public mode. Create a Game server monitor, choose Steam / Source (A2S) and enter the game port plus one. Attach alert channels and save.

Valheim answers Steam queries only when it is started with -public 1, and only on the query port, which is the game port plus one. Check both, and that UDP traffic reaches that port.
Can I monitor a server started with -public 0?
Not with game queries, because it does not answer them. Monitor its host with a ping monitor instead.
Can players see the server status on our website?
Yes. Every monitor has an embeddable widget that shows whether the server is online and how many players are on it, and you can list servers on a public status page.
Can outages be posted to our Discord?
Yes. Add a Discord webhook as an alert channel and attach it to the monitor: down and recovery messages are posted automatically, with no bot to host.
