How it works
- FastPing sends a Steam A2S_INFO query over UDP to the server's steamQueryPort.
- The reply contains the server name, map, players, maximum players and version.
- Two unanswered checks in a row open an incident and alert you.
What FastPing checks
- Online status
The server answers the query within 5 seconds.
- Players
Players online and maximum, charted over 24 hours, with an optional low-player warning.
- Version changes
An optional alert when the version or map changes, for example after an update.
- Latency
The round trip of the query, measured from Helsinki.
Set it up
Set steamQueryPort in serverDZ.cfg if it is not set yet, restart the server and open that UDP port. Create a Game server monitor with the Steam / Source (A2S) setting and that port. Attach alert channels and save.
Frequently asked questions
If your question is not here, write to us. We reply by email, usually within one business day.
Contact supportWhich port do I enter for DayZ?
The steamQueryPort value from serverDZ.cfg, not the game port 2302.
Why is my DayZ server offline in FastPing?
Usually the query port is not set or not open for UDP. Set steamQueryPort, restart the server and allow UDP traffic to that port.
Do mods change anything?
No. The status query works the same way on modded servers.
Can outages be posted to our Discord?
Yes. Add a Discord webhook as an alert channel and attach it to the monitor: down and recovery messages are posted automatically, with no bot to host.
