How it works

  1. FastPing sends a Steam A2S_INFO query over UDP to the server's game port.
  2. The reply contains the server name, map, players, maximum players and version.
  3. Two unanswered checks in a row open an incident and alert your channels.

What FastPing checks

  • Online status

The server answers the query within 5 seconds.

  • Map and players

Follow the map and the population, with an optional alert when the map or version changes.

  • Population warning

A warning when fewer players are online than your minimum.

  • Latency

The round trip of the query, measured from Helsinki.

Set it up

Create a Game server monitor and choose Steam / Source (A2S). Enter the server address and its game port. Attach alert channels and save.

Contact support
Which port do I enter?

The game port, 27015 by default.

Does a password-protected server work?

Yes. The status query does not need the server password.

Can I be alerted when the map changes?

Yes. Turn on "Alert when the version or map changes" in the monitor's settings.

Can players see the server status on our website?

Yes. Every monitor has an embeddable widget that shows whether the server is online and how many players are on it, and you can list servers on a public status page.
