Discord alerts with a webhook
Post FastPing down, recovery and warning alerts to a Discord channel with a webhook: no bot to host.
- Open the Discord server's Server Settings, then Integrations, then Webhooks. You need the Manage Webhooks permission.
- Click New Webhook and choose the text channel that should receive alerts.
- Click Copy Webhook URL.
The URL looks like https:/. Anyone who has it can post in the channel, so share it only with FastPing.
- In the dashboard, open Alert channels, choose the type Discord and paste the URL.
- Click Add channel, then Send test: a test message appears in the Discord channel.
- Attach the channel to the monitors whose alerts should go there.
FastPing accepts the URL exactly in the form Discord gives it (discord.com or discordapp.com, without extra parameters). Webhook URLs that point into a thread with ?thread_id= are not accepted: use a webhook of a regular text channel.
Alerts are posted under the name "FastPing" as an embed: the title is the alert's headline (for example Down: Survival SMP) and links to the monitor in your dashboard, the description holds the check's message (No response (timed out)), a Target field shows the address and the footer says where the check ran from. The embed colour follows the state: red for down, green for recovered, amber for warnings and blue for changes and tests. Alerts never mention roles or members.

That destination does not look valid for this channel type. | The URL is not a Discord webhook URL in the expected form. | Copy the URL again with Copy Webhook URL and paste it without changes. |
Test failed: HTTP 404 | The webhook was deleted in Discord. | Create a new webhook and replace the channel. |
Test failed: HTTP 429 | Discord is rate-limiting the webhook. | Wait a moment and try again; avoid sharing one webhook between many tools. |
