Create an incoming webhook in Slack

  1. Go to Slack's app management page for developers (api.slack.com/apps) and create a new app from scratch in your workspace. Name it "FastPing", for example.
  2. In the app's settings, open Incoming Webhooks and switch them on.
  3. Click Add New Webhook, choose the channel that should receive alerts and allow access.
  4. Copy the webhook URL. It starts with https://hooks.slack.com/services/.

Depending on your workspace settings, an administrator may need to approve the app.

Add it to FastPing

In the dashboard, open Alert channels, choose the type Slack, paste the URL, click Add channel and then Send test. Attach the channel to your monitors.

What the message looks like

Each alert is a message with the headline, then a block with a coloured bar (red, green, amber or blue for the state) that holds the check's message, an Open in FastPing link to the monitor, the target and where the check ran from:

Down: API
Timed out after 15s
Open in FastPing
